From the ASGMI General Secretariat, we are pleased to publish the first Newsletter, which includes a summary of the main activities carried out during the first half of this year.
The newsletter includes the following sections:
- Celebration of the XXIX General Assembly: Details of the assembly held in April 2024 in Huasca de Ocampo-Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo, Mexico, where the Critical Minerals Map of Latin America was presented and the role of geological services in the energy and ecological transition was discussed.
- Signing of the Huasca de Ocampo Declaration: Highlighting the importance of geological services in the energy and ecological transition, and promoting international cooperation and inclusive policies.
- Changes in the Board of Directors: Announcement of the new members of the Board of Directors, highlighting the appointment of Eng. Edwin García Cocco as President and M.Sc. Gracia Olivenza as General Secretary.
- Projects in which ASGMI participates: Information on projects funded by the European Union and other events of interest, such as the AlSiCal Project and the EmodNet Geology – Caribbean Sea Project Workshop.
- Activity of the Expert Groups: More than 60 virtual meetings of the different groups, highlighting the progress in the development of geoscientific maps and manuals.
- Upcoming ASGMI events: Information on virtual courses and workshops scheduled for the coming months.
