ATLAS OF MINERAL OCCURRENCES AND CRITICAL RAW MATERIALS IN THE SEABED OF IBERO-AMERICA
The Marine Geology Expert Group of ASGMI publishes the “Atlas of Mineral Occurrences and Critical Raw Materials in the Seabed of Ibero-America”.
This Atlas presents an updated regional synthesis of submarine mineral resources and critical raw materials from the continental margins and adjacent abyssal plains of Ibero-America. It includes maps of submarine mineral occurrences compiled from the available information, with the aim of serving as a reference and support tool for the preliminary assessment of these resources.
This is the first continental-scale synthesis atlas on submarine mineral resources in Ibero-America, developed through harmonization and standardization criteria. A total of 1,232 occurrences are represented, corresponding to polymetallic nodules, ferromanganese crusts, phosphorites, hydrothermal mineralizations, marine placers, and other submarine mineral deposits.
The Atlas has been prepared by members of the ASGMI Marine Geology Expert Group, coordinated by IGME-CSIC under the auspices of the Association of Ibero-American Geological and Mining Surveys (ASGMI).
