Inauguration of the REESOURCE project

22 January, 2024 Por ASGMI

On January 18, 2024, the opening meeting of the REESOURCE project was held in Lillestrǿm (Norway). This project aims to revolutionize the supply of Rare Earths Elements (REEs) in Europe through responsible, sustainable and decarbonized technologies for the extraction and utilization of these minerals. ASGMI participates in REESOURCE together with ten more organizations.

Rare earths are fundamental to the European economy and high on Europe’s political agenda, making REESOURCE a key project to achieve self-sufficiency in the supply of these elements in the EU. The REESOURCE project addresses the growing demand for critical minerals for the ecological and digital transitions, while minimizing socio-environmental impact and reducing CO2 emissions.

REESOURCE is a project supported by the European Union and its Horizon Europe Program (HEU-CL4-2023-RESILIENCE-01-02).

The consortium participating in REESOURCE is composed of 11 companies and organizations with expertise in various areas, all of which are essential for the operation of the project. REESOURCE is coordinated by the Institutt for Energiteknikk (IFE) of Norway. Also participating are Rare Earths Norway, the University of Porto, the University of Leoben, Advanced Minerals and Recycling Industrial Solutions (AdMiRIS), ASGMI, Aalborg University, the RWTH Aachen University, the University of Oulu, the Research Institute for Analytical Instrumentation (ICIA) and Medallion Innovations.

The REESOURCE Project will have a duration of 42 months and a total budget of 5 million euros.

Within REESOURCE, ASGMI is mainly involved in work packages 10-12, dedicated to perform communication and dissemination tasks of the project and to work on clustering tasks among stakeholders, as well as among partners from other similar projects, in order to create synergies and increase its impact.
